MONTIERNEUF

While descending towards the North neighborhood of Poitiers, we can find
the abbey church "St Jean de Montierneuf", installed in edge of Clain river.
Constructed by the "Comte Duc Geoffroy-Guillaume" in 1069, she was
consecrated by the Pope Urban II in 1096.
This structure of big breadth
presents a plan in Latin cross, as the other structures of the city.
The side aisle have eight rows and opens on a wide transept.
The choir, deep and vast, hits by his luminosity.

MONTIERNEUF

En descendant vers le quartier Nord de Poitiers, on trouve l'abbatiale Saint-Jean de Montierneuf, installée en bordure du Clain. Construite par le comte-duc Guy-Geoffroy-Guillaume en 1069, elle fut consacrée par le pape Urbain II en 1096.
Cet édifice de grande envergure présente un plan en croix latine, comme les autres édifices de la ville. La nef à collatéraux compte huit travées et ouvre sur un large transept. Le choeur, profond et vaste, frappe par sa luminosité.

 La paroisse de Montierneuf où a été baptisé Joachim Fonteneau en 1651
